The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has announced a recall of Bettergoods Pistachio Nut Butter. The reason? Possible salmonella contamination. It’s a move that follows routine testing—and the results are enough to make anyone check their pantry.
According to the FDA, Walmart was informed on July 7 that the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services had tested three jars of the nut butter. Those jars were purchased at one of its stores. The tests found salmonella. That’s when the recall process began.
No illnesses have been reported yet. But the agency is urging caution.
The product went to Walmart retail stores in 19 states. The list is long: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Washington and Wyoming. If you live in one of these states, it’s worth a look.
Affected jars carry the UPC 194346207961. The lot code is LB028ACP04. The expiration date printed on the jar is January 28, 2027. If you have this product, don’t eat it. Throw it away, or return it to the store for a refund.
Salmonella can be serious—especially for the young, the elderly, and anyone with weakened immune systems. Symptoms include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. For most healthy people, the illness is short-lived, but it can be deadly in vulnerable populations.
