A man has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after an alleged assault in the city centre this evening.
The incident happened on Abbey Street, with the stop currently closed.
Gardai have urged commuters to check public transport providers for updates.
A spokesman said: ‘Gardaí and emergency services are at the scene of an alleged assault on Abbey Street Lower, 1 this evening Monday 28th September 2026. A male has been conveyed to hospital for treatment of serious injuries.’
The spokesman added: ‘The Abbey Street Luas stop is currently closed, but nearby Luas stops are operating as normal. Commuters are advised to check public transport providers for updates. No additional information is available at this time.’
According to the spokesman, the alleged assault happened on Abbey Street Lower. Emergency services are at the scene, and a male has been taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The Abbey Street Luas stop is closed, while nearby Luas stops are operating as normal. Commuters are advised to check with public transport providers for updates.
A Luas spokesperson said: ‘On foot of a Garda directive, Abbey Luas stop will remain closed until further notice. Please use Jervis or Busaras as alternative stops. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.’
