A Different World Revival Gets Rewatch Podcast as Netflix Show Dominates

A Different World is getting another spin-off, and this time it is a podcast. iHeartMedia and Charlamagne Tha God’s Black Effect Podcast Network have announced A Different World View with Darryl & Kadeem, a new weekly show hosted by actors Kadeem Hardison and Darryl M. Bell. The series premieres Thursday, October 15, 2026, with new episodes released weekly.

Nearly four decades after portraying Dwayne Wayne and Ron Johnson Jr. on the television sitcom A Different World, Hardison and Bell will reunite to revisit the series episode by episode. The podcast will feature behind-the-scenes stories, reflections on the show’s cultural impact and conversations with former cast members. Each episode will also include discussions about entertainment, pop culture, sports and other topics, drawing on the hosts’ nearly 40-year friendship.

The pair will also explore the upcoming Netflix sequel series, featuring conversations with members of both the original and new casts. Actress, director and producer Debbie Allen will appear as the podcast’s first guest as Hardison and Bell begin their rewatch with Season 2, Episode 2, Allen’s first episode with the original series. The conversation will explore her arrival on the show and its evolution under her leadership. Allen also serves as an executive producer of the upcoming Netflix sequel, directs its premiere episode and appears as Dr. Langhorne. Hardison and Bell will reprise their original roles in the new production.

I am beyond excited to finally launch the A Different World View with Darryl & Kadeem podcast, Bell said. Kadeem and I have only wanted to do this for over 25 years, and the time is now! Black Effect Podcast Network President Dollie S. Bishop said the series will introduce new audiences to the show’s legacy while offering longtime fans previously untold stories. A Different World had an undeniable impact on Black culture, and Kadeem and Darryl are such an important part of that legacy, Bishop said. We’re excited to give them a platform to bring their friendship and comedy to listeners everywhere.

The podcast will be distributed by iHeartPodcasts as part of the Black Effect Podcast Network. New episodes will be available Thursdays on the iHeartRadio app and other podcast platforms, with video episodes also available on YouTube.

The duo will also look at new episodes coming out as part of the Netflix revival and discuss details.

According to Variety, A Different World View with Darryl & Kadeem will begin its weekly run on October 15, 2026. New episodes will drop on Thursdays. The first episode will feature EP and director Debbie Allen as its first guest. A Different World originally ran from 1987 to 1993 and was produced by NBC. The sitcom initially focused on Denise Huxtable, played by Lisa Bonet. However, she left after the first season. The show then followed Whitley Gilbert-Wayne (Jasmine Guy) and Dwayne Wayne (Kadeem Hardison) for the rest of its run.

The 2026 revival follows Deborah Wayne (Maleah Joi Moon), the youngest daughter of Hillman College’s finest, Dwayne Wayne (Kadeem Hardison), and Whitley Gilbert (Jasmine Guy). The first season of the revival has 10 episodes and explores the next generation of the cast as they head to the fictional Hillman College. The cast includes Maleah Joi Moon, Alijah Kai, Cornell Young IV, Jordan Aaron Hall, Kennedi Reece, Chibuikem Uche, among others. Hardison and Guy are billed as special guests, along with Darryl M. Bell and Cree Summer.
