Sydney Mclaughlin Levrone Shatters World Record At U.s. Olympic Team Trials

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone claimed victory in the 400-meter hurdle final, setting a new world record at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials. The reigning gold medalist, McLaughlin-Levrone clocked in at an astonishing 50.65 seconds, securing her dominance in the event.

Following closely behind were Anna Cockrell and Jasmine Jones, who also earned their spots on the Olympic Team with impressive performances. This trio’s success hints at a formidable American contingent for the upcoming Paris Olympics.

Competing at Hayward Stadium in Eugene, Oregon, McLaughlin-Levrone showed her world-class form in the semifinals, comfortably advancing with a time of 52.48 seconds.

An intense final saw a stellar lineup including Tokyo silver medalist Dalilah Muhammad, Shamier Little, and Keni Harrison. Despite stiff competition, McLaughlin-Levrone maintained her composure and delivered a flawless performance.

In the women’s 100 hurdles, Keni Harrison and Alaysha Johnson faced off against a competitive field. However, it was Masai Russell who emerged victorious, followed by Johnson and Grace Stark.

Rai Benjamin, CJ Allen, and Trevor Bassitt shone in the men’s 400-meter hurdles, with Benjamin setting a meet record with his exceptional time. The trio’s stellar performances solidified their spots on the Olympic Team.
