Travis Scott to Debut New Song at College Football Championship Halftime
ATLANTA, Ga. — Rapper Travis Scott will debut his new track “4×4” during the halftime show of the College Football Playoff National Championship game on Monday, January 20, 2025. The performance will take place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, as Notre Dame faces Ohio State in the highly anticipated matchup.
The game, set to air on ESPN at 7:30 p.m. ET, will feature Scott as the main halftime attraction, marking the first public performance of “4×4.” The song has been teased since November 2024, when Scott announced he was creating a theme song for WWE’s Monday Night Raw. He later previewed the track on Instagram Live on January 6, 2025.
Scott’s appearance comes amid a busy period for the rapper. Recently, he reportedly purchased a limited-edition $160,000 custom Hemi Hellcat V8 Horsepower Apocalypse Omega-Rex pickup truck, described as the “ultimate pickup.” The purchase was reported on January 14, 2025, by an undisclosed source.
However, Scott is also facing legal challenges. On January 8, 2025, Victory Boyd, a singer-songwriter, filed a lawsuit in federal court in New York against Scott, SZA, Future, and others, alleging that their song “Telekinesis” copied elements of her 2019 track “Like The Way It Sounds.” Boyd claims that Kanye West, who is not named in the suit, shared her song with Scott, who then collaborated with SZA and Future to create “Telekinesis.” Boyd also alleges that watchmaker Audemars Piguet used the song in an advertisement without her permission.
Boyd’s lawsuit highlights that she was offered an eight percent stake in “Telekinesis” prior to filing the suit. She also claims to have received information directly from the defendants regarding the song’s creation.
Scott’s halftime performance is expected to draw significant attention, as it deviates from the traditional college football halftime format, which typically features marching bands. ESPN announced the “special guest” performer just days before the game, building anticipation for Scott’s appearance.
Scott, born Jacques Bermon Webster II in Houston, Texas, has been a prominent figure in the music industry since signing with Epic Records at age 21. Known for hits like “Sicko Mode” and “Oh My/Dis Side,” Scott has 10 Grammy nominations but has yet to win. His last studio album, “Utopia,” was released in July 2023, and fans are speculating that “4×4” could signal the arrival of a new project in 2025.
The halftime show is expected to begin around 9 p.m. ET, following the first half of the game. Fans are encouraged to tune in by 8:45 p.m. ET to ensure they don’t miss the performance.
