No. 1 LSU Tigers Prepare for Series Against South Carolina Gamecocks

BATON ROUGE, La. – The No. 1 ranked LSU Tigers are set to face the South Carolina Gamecocks in a three-game series starting Thursday, May 15, at Founders Park in Columbia, South Carolina. The Tigers are looking to continue their strong performance this season, coming off a series win against Arkansas.

LSU, with a season record of 40-12 and 17-10 in Southeastern Conference play, boasts a pitching staff that ranks second in the nation with an average of 11.9 strikeouts per nine innings. The team has recorded a remarkable 586 strikeouts in 442 innings this season.

The series against the Gamecocks will commence on Thursday at 6 p.m. CT, followed by games on Friday at the same time and Saturday at 2 p.m. CT. All games will be available on SEC Network and SEC Network + for streaming.

LSU currently leads the all-time series against South Carolina 44-32-1. The Tigers have been particularly successful, winning 22 of the last 33 matchups, including two victories in last year’s SEC Tournament.

Coach Jay Johnson expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming games. “We’re excited to get back on the road and play in a great ballpark at South Carolina,” he said. “Their team has a ton of talent, so it will be a good challenge for our team. It’s life in the SEC, another tough weekend.”

The Tigers have received significant contributions from their players. Junior right-hander Anthony Eyanson recently threw six scoreless innings against Arkansas, and freshman outfielder Jake Brown had a standout performance, hitting two home runs in one game. Meanwhile, LSU’s lineup features several players among the SEC’s top statistical categories, such as junior first baseman Jared Jones, who is ranked fourth in the SEC with 61 RBIs.

In contrast, South Carolina comes into the series with a record of 27-26 and 5-22 in the SEC. The Gamecocks are coached by Paul Mainieri, a former LSU head coach, and recently secured a narrow 6-5 win over Winthrop after being swept by Auburn.
