Samuel Theodore Cain Nancy Mace Arrest

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Samuel Theodore Cain, a 19-year-old from Greenville, was arrested Thursday for allegedly threatening Congresswoman Nancy Mace‘s life on social media. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) confirmed that Cain, who identifies as Roxie Wolfe online, was booked into the Greenville County Detention Center following the post made on April 26.

Cain’s post stated, ‘I’m going to assassinate representative Nancy Mace with a gun and I’m being 100% dead a–,’ according to law enforcement. When confronted by authorities, Cain admitted to making the threat but claimed it was not serious.

Congresswoman Mace expressed gratitude for the quick response by local law enforcement. ‘The trans movement is fueling violence,’ Mace said in a statement. ‘Capitol Police and SLED moved fast on this death threat, and they should. No one should face murder threats for calling out radical gender ideology.’

Mace’s office noted that Cain is the first trans activist charged in connection with threats against her. Under South Carolina law, threats against public officials are classified as a felony, carrying penalties of up to five years in prison and fines reaching $5,000.

Mace, a vocal opponent of transgender policies, underscored the severity of the threats directed at her. ‘We won’t back down. We won’t stop fighting to protect women and kids,’ she added. ‘This isn’t just about me. It’s an attack on free speech.’

The case will be prosecuted by the 13th Circuit Solicitor’s Office. A bond hearing for Cain is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Friday in Greenville.
