TUCSON, Ariz. – The No. 17 Ole Miss softball team secured a spot in the winner’s bracket of the NCAA Tucson Regional by defeating No. 23 Grand Canyon, 7-4, on Friday night. The victory came after a powerful fifth inning where the Rebels scored five runs to rally from a 4-2 deficit.

Aliyah Binford led the charge for Ole Miss with an impressive performance, going 3-for-4 at the plate and earning three RBIs. Ashton Lansdell contributed significantly as well, hitting a home run and showcasing exceptional defense throughout the game.

Despite being down earlier in the match, Ole Miss (38-17, 11-13 SEC) displayed resilience and determination, turning the game around in the fifth inning. The Rebels capitalized on key moments and solid hitting to push ahead, while Grand Canyon (46-7, 21-2 WAC) struggled to regain their momentum.

After the win, Ole Miss Head Coach Mike Smith praised his team’s ability to perform under pressure. “We showed great character in that fifth inning, and I’m proud of how the girls executed our game plan,” he said. “Every player stepped up when it mattered most.”

Ole Miss will now move forward in the tournament, aiming to continue their successful run. The Rebels’ next matchup in the NCAA Tucson Regional is highly anticipated as they strive for a deeper postseason run.
