Atlanta Dream Welcome Indiana Fever at State Farm Arena

ATLANTA — The Atlanta Dream will play against the Indiana Fever at State Farm Arena on Thursday. This game marks a significant venue change from the team’s usual home at Gateway Center Arena, which accommodates only 3,500 fans. The move aims to provide more WNBA fans with the chance to watch the league’s stars in person.
This game is particularly exciting for the Dream, who are looking to build their fan base after selling out their season and half-season ticket memberships for a second consecutive year. Last season, the Dream hosted the Fever at a venue with 17,000 seats, underscoring their efforts to attract a larger audience.
The Dream (0-1) have made notable offseason additions, including 10-time All-Star Brittney Griner, three-time All-Star Brionna Jones, and Shatori Walker Kimbrough. Griner joins returning stars such as Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray, creating a formidable roster.
“The excitement around the Atlanta Dream has never been higher, and we can’t wait to open this season in front of a packed house,” Dream president Morgan Shaw Parker said in a statement.
The Fever, under new head coach Stephanie White, have also revamped their roster, adding All-Stars Kelsey Mitchell, DeWanna Bonner, and Natasha Howard. Caitlin Clark, the standout rookie, is expected to draw significant attention from fans.
Griner expressed her enthusiasm for the larger venue, stating, “I know we’re gonna have way more fans. Our arena is sold out the whole rest of the season.” She sees the move as a positive sign of the growing support for the team.
The game against the Fever tips off what promises to be an exciting season for the Atlanta Dream, who aim to continue their momentum in the WNBA.
