Rain Delays White Sox Game Against Mariners in Chicago

CHICAGO, IL — The Chicago White Sox announced a rain delay at Rate Field on Tuesday evening, as a storm rolled into the area, impacting the start time of their game against the Seattle Mariners, originally scheduled for 6:40 p.m. CDT.
White Sox officials shared updates on social media, stating, ‘We will provide more information as we receive it.’ The team has been struggling lately, entering the game with a five-game losing streak.
Pitcher Adrian Houser was set to take the mound for Chicago. Recently signed to a one-year, $1.35 million contract, Houser holds a 32-39 record with a 4.21 ERA across eight seasons in Major League Baseball, playing most notably with the Milwaukee Brewers and spent last season with the New York Mets.
‘Excited to add him to the mix,’ said White Sox manager Will Venable. Meanwhile, the Mariners, who recently achieved a four-game winning streak, were eager to start their series against Chicago.
Weather forecasts indicated a hazardous outlook for the Chicago area, with showers and possible thunderstorms expected until 10 p.m. While rainfall might ease afterward, the conditions posed challenges for a timely game start.
The Mariners were eager to avoid a postponement, especially since they have a matinee scheduled for the series finale on Wednesday, allowing their players enough time to travel to Houston for a series against the Astros starting Thursday.
As the rain continued, both teams and fans remained hopeful for a chance to play later in the evening, although the prospects looked dim due to the ongoing weather conditions.
