Kane & Lynch Film Adaptation Dreams Fade Yet Again

LOS ANGELES, CA — A film adaptation of the video game series Kane & Lynch has faced numerous delays and changes over the years. Developed by IO Interactive and initially released in 2007, the project has seen various Hollywood stars attached to it at different times.
This week, Timo Tjahjanto, the director of Nobody 2, shared on social media that he had written a treatment for the film featuring David Harbour, known for his roles in Stranger Things and Marvel’s Black Widow.
In his post, Tjahjanto stated, “Never seen a script, but a couple of years ago when that property was still kinda shit hot, I wrote a short treatment with James Badge Dale and David Harbour in mind. Never gotten anywhere.” His treatment is one of many ideas for a Kane & Lynch movie that failed to progress.
Earlier iterations of the project included big names like Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx but both actors eventually dropped out as the script underwent multiple rewrites. Another attempt featured Gerard Butler and Vin Diesel, yet this version also did not materialize.
After the lukewarm reception of the 2010 video game sequel, IO Interactive shifted its focus entirely to its Hitman franchise, leaving Kane & Lynch in development limbo.
