New York, NY — Michael Jordan, a six-time NBA champion, is set to join NBC Sports as a special contributor for its NBA coverage beginning with the 2025-26 season in October.

The announcement was made during NBCUniversal’s Upfront presentation earlier today at Radio City Music Hall. Jordan expressed his excitement, saying, “I am so excited to see the NBA back on NBC. The NBA on NBC was a meaningful part of my career, and I’m looking forward to seeing you all when it launches this October.”

NBC Sports President Rick Cordella praised Jordan, stating, “Michael’s legacy both on and off the court speaks for itself. We’re incredibly proud to have him join our coverage.”

Jordan, widely regarded as the greatest basketball player of all time, has numerous accolades, including being the first former player to become the majority owner of the Charlotte Hornets. He is also known for his philanthropy and business ventures, particularly with his Jordan Brand under NIKE.

In a separate development regarding sports broadcasting, Chris Berman has extended his contract with ESPN, making him the network’s first employee to celebrate 50 years in 2029. Berman has been a prominent figure in ESPN’s NFL coverage since 1981, contributing to popular shows such as NFL PrimeTime.

Returning to NBC, Jordan will share the studio with other NBA legends, including Vince Carter, who will also be joining NBC as a studio analyst when the NBA returns to NBC this fall. Carter, an eight-time NBA All-Star with a record 22 seasons in the league, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I could not be more excited and appreciative to have the opportunity to be a part of the historic return of the NBA to NBC and now Peacock.”

As the NBA season starts, fans can expect comprehensive coverage, strong insights, and appearances from basketball legends as part of the broadcast team.
