Street Fighter Movie Casting News

LOS ANGELES, California — Four actors are in early talks to star in Legendary Pictures’ upcoming live-action film based on the popular Street Fighter video game franchise. Actors Andrew Koji, Jason Momoa, Noah Centineo, and WWE superstar Roman Reigns are reportedly circling the adaptation, according to multiple sources.

The project, which is co-developed and co-produced with Capcom, has no confirmed cast or specific plot details at this time. Kitao Sakurai, known for his work on The Eric Andre Show, was announced as the director in February 2025, taking over from filmmakers Danny and Michael Philippou.

Legendary secured exclusive film and television rights to the Street Fighter IP in April 2023, and now aims to bring the franchise to the big screen. The Street Fighter series, launched in 1987, has sold over 55 million units worldwide, becoming one of the highest-grossing video game franchises of all time.

Koji is recognized for his roles in acclaimed series such as Warrior and Gangs of London. Momoa, famous for his performance in Aquaman, recently starred in A Minecraft Movie, while Centineo is known for his roles in Netflix productions like The Recruit. Reigns, a pro wrestling superstar, has appeared in films including Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.

The first Street Fighter game, which focused on martial artists battling in tournaments, gained popularity through its innovations, particularly with the 1991 release of Street Fighter II. This title revolutionized one-on-one fighting games and set a benchmark for future titles.

As negotiations continue, it remains unclear which characters the actors would portray or when the film might be released. The film is expected to tap into the legacy of the franchise, which has seen numerous installments and adaptations since its inception.

The anticipated Street Fighter movie is a sign that Hollywood is increasingly investing in video game adaptations, following the success of titles like The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
