Car Collides with Garbage Truck in Cumberland County, Injures Driver

Cumberland County Car Crash Garbage Truck

SILVER SPRING TOWNSHIP, Pa. — One person was injured when a car crashed into a garbage truck in Cumberland County on Wednesday morning, according to the New Kingstown Fire Company.

The incident occurred at 8:02 a.m. at the intersection of Rich Valley Road and Beechcliff Drive in Silver Spring Township. The fire company reported that the car collided with the rear of the garbage truck.

First responders discovered an individual trapped inside the car, which was wedged beneath the garbage truck. Rescue crews quickly worked to free the individual by cutting off the driver’s side doors, managing to extricate the person within 11 minutes of their arrival.

The injured driver was transported to a local hospital. The extent of their injuries has not yet been released. As crews worked on the scene, Rich Valley Road was closed between Foxanna and Valley View Drives until the debris was cleared and both vehicles were towed away. Fire police reported that the road reopened around 10 a.m.

The Silver Spring Township Police Department is currently investigating the accident. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
