San Antonio Weather Forecast Heat Index

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A heat index of 105 degrees is expected in San Antonio this week as a significant heat wave grips the region. Meteorologist Paul Mireles from the National Weather Service provided the forecast, indicating that unusual heat has arrived earlier than anticipated.

The heat wave is predicted to persist through early next week, aside from a potential cool down mid-week. The National Weather Service has declared Weather Impact Alert Days starting Monday. On Tuesday, the temperatures could reach highs of 101 degrees.

Despite a cold front predicted to arrive Tuesday morning, meteorologists caution that it may bring limited moisture, resulting in few thunderstorms, particularly closer to Houston. Isolated thunderstorms may also develop on Thursday afternoon with only a 20% chance of precipitation.

The National Weather Service is advising South Texans to take precautions against heat-related illnesses as the risk this week will be higher than normal. The agency urges individuals to check on vulnerable family members and friends during these extreme temperatures.

In a broader context, unseasonably warm temperatures have affected the entirety of Central Texas, with lows remaining in the 70s. This means that even at night, residents may find little relief from the ongoing heat.

As a developing situation, the weather service recommends staying hydrated and monitoring local news for updates. Red flag warnings are in effect from Midland-Odessa westward, indicating an increased risk of wildfires due to high winds and elevated temperatures.
