Pontus Nyholm Korn Ferry Tour Playoff

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Pontus Nyholm captured his first career victory on the Korn Ferry Tour in a thrilling playoff at the Visit Knoxville Open. After almost winning on the 18th hole, Nyholm came back strong, making a lengthy eagle putt on the first playoff hole to defeat Johnny Keefer.

Nyholm started the final day five strokes behind leader S.H. Kim, who struggled with a four-over-par performance. Entering the 18th hole, Nyholm had a two-stroke lead but faced a hiccup with a bogey. A birdie from Keefer tied things up, necessitating a playoff for the second consecutive year.

The Knoxville community had reason to celebrate as local players performed well. Bryce Lewis, a former Vol, secured a top 20 finish at 12-under. Additionally, Halls alum Ryan Hall marked a significant achievement, finishing tied for sixth at 15-under, his best result in professional golf.

Jeffrey Kang also had a standout round, firing a bogey-free 7-under 64 to finish tied for third at 18-under, marking the best result of his career. Meanwhile, sponsor exemption Dylan Menante matched this score after breaking the course record with an impressive 11-under 60 in the third round.

Third-year member Ross Steelman rounded out the top competitors in fifth place with a score of 17-under, achieving his best finish of the season.

This tournament not only highlighted Nyholm’s skill but also paved the way for four players to qualify for next week’s UNC Health Championship via their top-25 finishes.
