Mobile Alabama Storm Damage

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) – Severe storms swept through Mobile on Thursday morning, leading to widespread damage and dangerous conditions. While rain began early in the day, the heaviest storms moved in around 9 a.m., impacting commuters and residents alike.

Live weather cameras captured the severe weather effects from Daphne to Fairhope. At Fairhope Pier, construction barriers were knocked down by the strong winds, with workers seen attempting to restore order. Visibility on Highway 181 in Daphne dropped significantly, making driving treacherous. Wendy Howard shared video through the FOX 10 Weather app showcasing the low visibility conditions.

Downed trees were reported along Highway 181 in Fairhope, narrowly missing vehicles and homes, according to local resident Priscilla H. Images continued to flow in as the storm progressed, revealing further destruction. A fallen tree was spotted near the Bayside Sports Complex, while additional video from Jubilee Farms in Daphne highlighted the powerful winds that swept through the neighborhood, resulting in significant property damage including uprooted trees and a trampoline that crashed into a fence.

Damage reports continued from locations such as Hemlock Drive in Fairhope and Rock Tree Clubhouse Drive, where large trees had also fallen. Photos from Montrose showed branches tangled in power lines, and one coastal image depicted a group of geese struggling against the waves.

Many viewers contributed photos and videos documenting the storm’s impact, helping to paint a clearer picture of the situation. The FOX 10 Weather app allows easy submissions of weather-related content, encouraging users to provide context with their submissions for on-air discussions.
