Terry Mclaurin Nfl Contract Extension

ASHBURN, Va. — Terry McLaurin is pushing for a new contract extension with the Washington Commanders as he enters a pivotal year.

Though the team is not in a state of panic, hopes are high that a deal will be reached soon. NFL salary-cap expert Adam Peters predicts that the Commanders and McLaurin will find common ground, albeit with a significant financial commitment involved.

McLaurin, a former third-round pick, has established himself as a key player and leader within the organization. Teammates regard him highly, and his dedication on and off the field has earned him respect. Analysts suggest a three-year deal worth $100 million with $60 million guaranteed could be on the table.

As the 29-year-old enters a contract year in 2025, he is scheduled to earn $19.65 million this season. Peters notes McLaurin could be looking at a potential salary close to $32 million per year, especially after wide receiver DK Metcalf recently signed a comparable deal for $33 million per year with $60 million guaranteed.

While McLaurin’s potential contract may not match those of stars like Justin Jefferson or Ja'Marr Chase, his contributions to the team are undeniable. As he approaches his 30th birthday, the Commanders are eager to secure him as a long-term player.

With wide receiver contracts skyrocketing across the league, the Commanders recognize that a quick agreement could save them money. Concerns about McLaurin’s absence during voluntary organized team activities (OTAs) are minimal, as quarterback Jayden Daniels trusts McLaurin’s professionalism.

The timeline for McLaurin’s return remains uncertain, but there is optimism that a deal could be finalized before the mandatory minicamp scheduled for June 10-12. Peters believes there is no reason to delay; extending McLaurin is the best course of action.
