Georgia Tax Refunds of Up to $500 Begin Depositing

ATLANTA, Ga. — Georgia taxpayers are starting to see tax refunds of up to $500 deposited into their bank accounts. The first payments began on June 16, as part of a one-time rebate program approved by Governor Brian Kemp earlier this year.
The refunds are available for eligible taxpayers who filed both 2023 and 2024 individual income tax returns and do not owe the Georgia Department of Revenue. Depending on filing status, individuals can receive up to $250 if they are single or married filing separately, $375 for heads of household, and $500 for those married filing jointly.
To check eligibility, taxpayers can visit the Georgia Tax Center and enter their tax year, social security number, or tax identification number along with their federal adjusted gross income.
This marks the third wave of tax refunds from the state’s surplus. Previous issuances occurred in 2022 and 2023. The current round of payments follows House Bill 112, which was signed into law to return a portion of state surplus funds back to taxpayers.
Meanwhile, in Smyrna, a 6-year-old child is recovering after being shot during an exchange of gunfire between vehicles, prompting police to arrest two suspects.
