Mariah May Wwe Name Change

WWE‘s new wrestler Mariah May, now known as Blake Monroe, has stirred controversy following the name change. During the June 17, 2025, edition of the “Something To Wrestle With” podcast, JBL discussed the implications of adopting a name shared with a former adult film star.

JBL wondered how such a name might impact May’s career. “I think it would be kind of cool to have this heritage,” he said. “But I think I’d change it. Fans are brutal and smart; they’ll come up with creative responses to that name.”

The decision to adopt the name Monroe is reportedly inspired by Marilyn Monroe, fitting into May’s gimmick of glamor. Her first name, Blake, is a tribute to her niece. May confirmed this connection via social media, sharing a photo of herself with her niece.

This conversation comes on the heels of May making her return to WWE during a promo on Monday Night Raw, where she highlighted the upcoming All Women’s Premium Live Event, Evolution.

As WWE continues to evolve its branding and characters, fans and critics alike are left to speculate about the potential impacts of such decisions on the careers of its wrestlers.
