Severe Weather Postpones Tigers vs. Pirates Game at Comerica Park

DETROIT, Michigan — The Detroit Tigers’ game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, originally scheduled for Wednesday night, has been postponed due to severe weather forecasts for the area.
The matchup will now take place as part of a split doubleheader on Thursday at Comerica Park. The first game is set to begin at 1:10 p.m., while the rescheduled game will start at 5:40 p.m. Fans who held tickets for Wednesday’s game can use those for Thursday’s nightcap.
Despite hopes for an exciting pitching showdown, the expected matchup between Tigers ace Tarik Skubal and Pirates rookie sensation Paul Skenes will not occur. In the first game, Skubal (7-2, 1.99 ERA) will face off against Pirates left-hander Andrew Heaney (3-5, 3.33). Skenes (4-6, 1.78) is slated to pitch in the second game, though the Tigers have not officially announced who will start alongside him.
Skubal has been a key player for the Tigers this season, boasting an impressive strikeout rate with 111 strikeouts in just over 90 innings. He’s allowed one or zero runs in nine of his starts. Skenes has also made a significant impact during his first season, leading the National League in WHIP while attempting to prove his worth as a front-runner for Rookie of the Year.
Fans hoping to see a dream matchup may be disappointed, but they are encouraged to check their emails for ticket exchange options if they cannot attend the rescheduled game. The Tigers have advised ticket holders who purchased through secondary markets to inquire directly with those vendors regarding weather-related policies.
