Oktoberfest Zinzinnati Celebrates German Heritage with Food and Fun

Cincinnati, Ohio – Oktoberfest Zinzinnati, the largest Oktoberfest celebration in the United States, takes place from Sept. 18 to 21 at Sawyer Point and Yeatman’s Cove. The festival showcases Southwest Ohio’s rich German heritage, featuring a variety of delicious German foods, live music, and festive activities.
As the celebration kicks off, attendees are already raving about the incredible food on offer. Kaycee Sloan, a trending news reporter, highlighted her favorite dish: the German chocolate funnel cake from Royal Berlin Chef. “I’ve loved German chocolate cake since I was a child. The chocolate drizzle and dollop of German chocolate cake frosting took it to the next level,” she said.
Another dish that captured attention was Zoomer’s Goetta Mountain Ribbon Fry, featuring crunchy ribbon fries topped with shredded goetta and drizzled with sour cream and nacho cheese. Sloan admitted it changed her opinion on the Cincinnati delicacy, calling it “well worth its $12 value” despite the messiness.
Keith Pandolfi, a food and dining writer, praised the legendary Mick Noll’s currywurst, noting it’s some of the best sausage at the festival. “The sweet, tangy sauce on plump sausages really highlights the celebration of German cuisine,” he said.
For those seeking traditional flavors, Limburger cheese sandwiches are on the menu, served with pungent onions on rye. According to Pandolfi, the cheese’s unique aroma is a throwback to Cincinnati’s German cafes of the past.
Fans of comfort food rave about Royal Berlin Chef’s goetta mac and cheese, as Haadiza Ogwude, another trending news reporter, described it as a must-have item. “The strong creaminess paired with crumbly breakfast sausage makes it unforgettable,” she noted.
Lastly, the pumpkin strudel from The Original Strudel Factory stands out, though its $20 price tag might deter some. However, Ogwude found it to be worth every penny, saying, “The flakiness and decadent filling made it the perfect fall treat.”
As the festival unfolds, the lineup of events promises to draw large crowds, making Cincinnati the place to be this week.
