Spanish League Football Matches Weather Cancellation

Guadalajara, Mexico – The Liga MX announced the suspension of a match due to severe weather conditions affecting player safety.

The game, which was part of Jornada 11 of the Apertura 2025 season, was originally set to take place at 9:00 PM local time at Estadio Cuauhtémoc. However, a thunderstorm in the area prompted the league to reschedule the match to 5:00 PM on Saturday, September 27.

In a statement, the league said, “The determination, made in conjunction with Protección Civil, prioritizes the integrity of everyone present at the stadium: clubs, fans, and referees.” The decision is supported by Articles 41 and 42 of the Liga BBVA MX Competition Regulations, which allow for match suspensions in cases of force majeure.

Despite efforts by the club to prepare the field after the rain stopped, the pitch remained unplayable, with the ball not bouncing properly. This situation highlights the ongoing challenges sports organizations face in managing weather-related disruptions.

As fans eagerly await the rescheduled game, they can look forward to an exciting matchup, expected to bring high emotions and competitive spirit.
