Google Finally Rolls Out No Data Wipe OTA for Pixel Beta Users

Mountain View, California – Google has started sending out the long-awaited No Data Wipe OTA update for Pixel users enrolled in the Android 16 QPR1 Beta 3.1 program. This new update, which is about 39.57 MB, allows users to switch from the beta version to the stable release without losing any data.
The rollout of this update began early this morning, September 29, 2025, for many users who opted out of the beta program. Several users had been waiting for this update since the last beta release in mid-August, which had limited them from enjoying the full benefits of the stable release.
The update takes devices from the July 2025 security patch to the September patch, readying them just ahead of October’s update. Users on devices like the Pixel Tablet reported receiving the update earlier, while those with a Pixel 8a continued to wait. To install the new OTA, users can navigate to Settings > Software updates > System update.
Despite the update, some beta users have experienced issues, including Google Wallet and VPN connectivity problems. Some reported seeing messages that their device does not meet security requirements for Google Wallet, with the app indicating potential root or software certification issues.
Beta testers have expressed frustration over the lengthy wait for the update, especially since many experienced malfunctioning features. However, Google users are hopeful that the No Data Wipe OTA will resolve these issues. The update allows users to exit the beta program, facilitating a smoother transition back to stable Android 16.
For users who do not see the update immediately, a simple reboot of the device has reportedly worked to trigger its availability. Those who have already installed a new Android 16 QPR1 Beta will need to wait for the next stable channel to exit without wiping their data.
This update arrives one month after Google rolled out the stable version of Android 16 QPR1, marking a significant moment for those who opted to test the beta.
