UCLA Football Offensive Coordinator Tino Sunseri Parts Ways with Team
Los Angeles, CA — Tino Sunseri has mutually agreed to leave his position as UCLA’s offensive coordinator following a disappointing start to the season. The decision, made public on September 30, 2025, comes as the Bruins’ offense struggles, ranking among the worst in the nation.
A university official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, confirmed the departure. Sunseri is the second coordinator to part ways with UCLA after the recent exit of defensive coordinator Jerry Azzinaro.
With the Bruins currently sitting at 0-4 overall and 0-1 in the Big Ten, tight ends coach Mike Nussmeier will take over as the offensive playcaller. They will face No. 7 Penn State on Saturday at the Rose Bowl.
UCLA’s offense has averaged only 14.2 points per game, placing them 132nd out of 134 major college teams. The team’s struggles have been evident as they have fallen behind early in several games, including 20-0 against Utah and 23-0 versus Nevada Las Vegas.
Sunseri was initially brought on board with high expectations after his success as co-offensive coordinator at Indiana, where the team averaged 47.8 points per game last season. However, the Bruins have not been able to replicate that success.
Plans are also underway to finalize additional staff, with former UCLA offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone expected to assume analyst responsibilities once the necessary university processes are completed.
