Matthew Mcconaughey Son Acting Role

LOS ANGELES, CA — Matthew McConaughey shared insights about his son Levi Alves McConaughey, who has landed a role in the upcoming film ‘The Lost Bus.’ Speaking to People magazine, Matthew revealed that Levi, 17, had a passion for performing before he was cast in the film, which premieres on Apple TV+ on October 3.

Matthew explained that while people may think Levi got the role due to his family connections, the young actor believes it is up to him to prove his own talent. He stated, ‘As much as people can say, ‘Oh, you got this because of your father or your mother,’ they can open the door, but then it’s going to be up to me to do my thing once I get in there.’

Matthew, who is known for his Oscar-winning performances, emphasized the importance of his son’s journey and taking ownership of his identity. He shared, ‘Acting can’t be his full identity. And it will be a part of finding his identity if he continues to do it.’

In the interview, Matthew also reflected on his initial reluctance for his children to join Hollywood. He said, ‘I never wanted my kids to follow in my footsteps,’ but his perspective changed after Levi’s birth. ‘It would be a privilege if they were able to find success in this industry,’ he added.

Levi recalled his audition process, mentioning that he had to convince his father multiple times to help him. Matthew had to ‘badger’ Levi to get him through his taped audition for the role of Shaun, the son of Kevin McKay, a bus driver played by Matthew.

The film, produced by Jamie Lee Curtis, tells a tense survival story about a bus driver who rescues children during the deadly 2018 Camp Fire. Matthew also cast his 93-year-old mother, Kay, in a role. ‘It was a great experience for me,’ he said.

‘The Lost Bus’ has already received positive critical acclaim with an 87% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Matthew’s projects also include two upcoming films and a comedy show on Apple TV+.

Levi, who enjoys various activities like surfing and tennis, also has a growing social media presence with 449,000 followers on Instagram and TikTok. He is the eldest of Matthew’s three children, which include daughter Vida, 15, and son Livingston, 12.
