HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Bruce Springsteen stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday night to share uplifting thoughts and amusing stories from his life.

During the interview, Kimmel asked Springsteen to discuss his views on America and the world. Springsteen, who has been a musical ambassador for the country for over 50 years, expressed his hope through the song “Land of Hope and Dreams.” He said, “I know for a fact that that’s how many people around the world still see our country. Not as a land of fear, not as a divisiveness, not of hatred. And I basically believe that that’s an America that’s worth fighting for.”

The conversation turned lighter as Springsteen humorously recounted his one and only karaoke experience. “I was in London in a little bar, they were doing karaoke, and I said, ‘I’m gonna get up and do some fucking karaoke!’” he said, smiling.

To the surprise of many, he chose the Temptations‘ hit “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg.” He joked, “I got up there, I started singing, and they thought I was just another asshole who had gotten up onstage and was trying to do karaoke! It was really disappointing; I’ve never done it again.”

Springsteen’s appearance also touched on his critiques of the current political climate, particularly regarding the Trump administration. Earlier this year, he voiced concerns during a concert, saying, “There’s some very weird, strange and dangerous s**t going on out there right now.”

In response to Kimmel’s inquiry about positive messages during challenging times, Springsteen encouraged hope and resilience, highlighting that many still view America as a land of opportunity. His remarks resonated, echoing a sentiment of unity despite the divisive atmosphere.
