Woman Hit By Vehicle In West Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, PA – A woman was fatally struck by a vehicle in West Philadelphia early Sunday morning, police said. The incident occurred just before 3 a.m. on October 5, 2025, on the 4000 block of Girard Avenue.

Preliminary reports from the Philadelphia Police Department indicate that a 2010 Nissan was traveling eastbound on Girard Avenue when a 52-year-old woman entered the street mid-block, resulting in the collision. The woman was quickly transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 3:03 a.m.

The driver of the Nissan remained at the scene and was not injured. Police confirmed that the driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, led by the Crash Investigation Division, as authorities work to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

Residents in the Parkside section of Philadelphia are expressing concerns about pedestrian safety, urging city officials to implement more measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

“This is a tragic reminder of how vulnerable pedestrians can be, especially in busy urban areas,” a local resident stated.

Authorities have not released the identity of the woman who was struck. The investigation continues as police gather more information about the events leading to the collision and any contributing factors.
