Hulu Disney+ Launch October 2025

BURBANK, Calif. — Hulu will officially become the global General Entertainment brand on Disney+ starting October 8, 2025, replacing the Star brand in international markets, according to Disney officials. This major transition follows Disney’s acquisition of Comcast‘s stake in Hulu and marks a significant step in the streaming service’s global expansion.

Disney emphasized that users will notice further integrations of Hulu within the Disney+ app as part of ongoing product updates leading up to a fully unified app experience expected next year. The initial updates will focus on enhancing user navigation and design.

A new navigation bar will be added to the top of Disney+’s homepage, with the “For You” tab becoming the first screen subscribers see. This tab will offer personalized recommendations powered by an upgraded algorithm designed to learn user preferences. Additional tabs will be available for users to explore Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN individually, depending on subscriptions.

Disney has also introduced a Live hub, giving users direct access to live news, sports, and events. Badging tags like “Season Finale,” “New Series,” and “New Movie” will highlight timely content, making it easier for viewers to discover new shows and films.

To personalize user experiences, the company is enhancing the Profiles feature, making it more prominent on the platform. Users will receive content recommendations based on their unique viewing habits through their personal profiles.

Visual updates are also planned, featuring more modern designs that emphasize popular characters and stories. This includes a revamped video display in the Hero carousel and updated artwork for content sets.

On mobile devices, Disney+ will launch iOS Widgets to provide users with another way to access programming with a single click. The company plans to introduce mobile-first experiences in the coming year, aiming to reach and engage a wider audience globally.

Disney’s move to establish Hulu as a global brand represents a significant shift in its strategy. This change aims to broaden the appeal of Disney+ among adult viewers and enhance the visibility of its large content catalog. Following the integration, Hulu content will remain accessible, including popular titles like High Potential, Only Murders in the Building, and Grey’s Anatomy.

As the rollout approaches, users can expect these enhancements to be just the beginning of Disney’s ongoing updates to its streaming services.
