George Strait to Return to Clemson’s Memorial Stadium After 25 Years
CLEMSON, S.C. — Country music legend George Strait will return to Clemson University’s Memorial Stadium for a concert on May 2, 2026. This marks his first performance at the venue since 1999, when he headlined a show that drew large crowds.
The upcoming concert will also feature rising star Wyatt Flores. Tickets for the event will go on sale starting October 31.
In recent years, Strait has performed at various stadiums, usually during the spring and summer months. This year, he played five shows, while in 2024 he scheduled ten performances. Notably, one of the 2024 concerts at Texas A&M’s Kyle Field attracted the largest ticketed audience in U.S. history, totaling 110,905 attendees. Earlier this fall, his show at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor drew even more, with 112,408 fans in attendance.
While this is currently the only concert date Strait has announced, fans speculate more shows may follow due to his recent Instagram post hinting at upcoming events. His post reminisced about the Nokia Presents the George Strait Chevy Truck Music Festival from the late ’90s, which included artists like Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw. The 1999 Clemson concert was part of that memorable tour.
Additionally, Strait has events lined up in the near future. He will be honored at the Kennedy Center Honors in Washington, D.C., this December for his contributions to American culture. He will be recognized alongside other icons like KISS and Gloria Gaynor. Furthermore, Strait is set to be inducted into the Texas Songwriters Hall of Fame in early 2026.
