Joe Mixon Running Back Injury Update

HOUSTON, Texas – The Houston Texans are set to face the Baltimore Ravens in Week 7 without their star running back Joe Mixon, who has been sidelined due to an ankle injury. Mixon was eligible to return from the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list last week but continues to be away from the team as he rehabilitates.

Mixon’s absence has raised speculation since he was placed on the PUP list in July after suffering the ankle injury during offseason training sessions. Despite being eligible for comeback, there is no definitive timetable for his return, leaving the Texans’ backfield in disarray.

Through six games, Houston’s rushing attack ranks 16th in the NFL, struggling without Mixon. Running backs Nick Chubb and rookie Woody Marks have shared carries in his absence, with Chubb leading the team with 249 rushing yards from 58 attempts, recording two top-25 finishes in fantasy leagues. Marks emerged as a promising option after scoring 27.9 points against the Tennessee Titans in Week 4.

Texans general manager Nick Caserio disclosed that Mixon has shown progress in his rehabilitation but has not provided an official timeline for his return. He stated, “We’re taking it one day at a time,” emphasizing the team’s cautious approach regarding Mixon’s status.

With the Texans holding a 2-3 record and coming off a bye week following a decisive 44-10 victory over the Ravens, the absence of Mixon continues to be felt. The Texans are hopeful Mixon can return soon, but clarity over his long-term availability remains elusive.

As the situation develops, fantasy football managers are advised to stay tuned and maintain hope for Mixon’s eventual return while weighing their roster decisions.
