Afghanistan Aims for Series Sweep Against Zimbabwe in T20I
HARARE, Zimbabwe — Afghanistan will complete a three-match T20 International series against Zimbabwe on November 2, 2025, seeking a clean sweep after winning the first two matches. The match is taking place at the Harare Sports Club.
Currently, Afghanistan leads the series 2-0 and looks to secure a whitewash. Captain Rashid Khan and his team have performed strongly, having shown skill in both batting and bowling throughout the series.
Afghanistan batted first in this match, with a current score of 161 runs for 1 wicket after 16 overs. Ibrahim Zadran led the run-scoring with an impressive 59 runs off 47 balls. The Afghan batting lineup has found its rhythm, making it difficult for the Zimbabwean bowlers.
Zimbabwe had previously shocked Afghanistan by winning a one-off Test match by an innings and 73 runs. However, they struggled in the T20 format, having difficulty countering Afghanistan’s bowling attack.
Zimbabwe’s captain Sikandar Raza needs his team to respond positively to avoid a series defeat at home. The Zimbabwean squad features players like Brian Bennett and Brent Taylor, who are considered key to their batting lineup.
The teams have displayed contrasting performances thus far, as Afghanistan has demonstrated a stronger grasp of T20 cricket, winning 18 out of 20 matches played between the two sides historically. With favorable pitch conditions for spinners, Afghanistan appears to have the advantage.
Commentators noted that Richard Ngarava, bowling for Zimbabwe, has struggled against the Afghan batsmen, and they will need to adapt quickly to make a comeback in this final match.
As the series wraps up, fans eagerly await to see if Afghanistan can continue its dominance over Zimbabwe and leave the series with a 3-0 victory.
