METZ, France — Kyrian Jacquet celebrated his first ATP main draw victory at the Moselle Open on Tuesday, sending the 24-year-old rising French star into the second round.

Jacquet, currently ranked 156th, faced Luca Van Assche, winning the match 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 on the tournament’s court No. 1. As a lucky loser in the tournament, Jacquet had not anticipated making it this far but capitalized on the opportunity to advance.

“I was stable throughout the match, which was my goal with my coach, Stéphane Robert,” Jacquet said post-match. “I’m very pleased to win, even though it’s just my first match. It’s always great to win, regardless of the context, but this one feels special.”

Jacquet added he is looking forward to facing another lucky loser from France in the next round. “I’ve had to overcome a lot recently, especially after my last experience at Roland-Garros, where I lost in a tough five-set match against Nuno Borges after leading two sets to none.”

Reflecting on his post-Roland-Garros struggles, Jacquet shared, “I faced a lot of dark thoughts. It was a challenging time, filled with self-doubt and sadness. But I’ve worked hard and now I feel much better. I’ve dealt with a sports psychologist, which has helped immensely in regaining my confidence and focus.”

Jacquet’s victory at the Moselle Open demonstrates his resilience and determination as he seeks to build on this momentum through the end of the season. “This tournament is a chance for players, especially with some withdrawals. I intend to seize every opportunity I can,” he said, expressing excitement for the challenge ahead.

Looking toward the future, Jacquet is keen on continuing to improve his performance. “If I keep this up, I am confident more wins will come my way,” he concluded.
