First Teaser Trailer for Toy Story 5 Drops Today
BURBANK, Calif. — Disney released the first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 on November 11, 2025, marking almost 30 years since the original movie premiered in November 1995. The new film is scheduled to hit theaters on June 19, 2026.
The trailer introduces a new character, Lilypad, an electronic game tablet voiced by Greta Lee. The original toys—Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, and Forky—show their shock as Lilypad is unboxed, evoking reactions from other beloved characters like Mr. Potato Head and Rex. The teaser is set to the song ‘Never Tear Us Apart’ by INXS.
Joining the voice cast is comedian Conan O’Brien, who plays Smarty Pants, a toilet-training tech toy. The full plot details remain largely a mystery, but Tim Allen, who voices Buzz Lightyear, hinted at exciting developments in the film. Earlier this year, he stated in an interview, ‘It’s a lot about Jessie. Tom [Hanks] and I do realign. And there’s an unbelievable opening scene with Buzz Lightyear.’
Director Andrew Stanton and co-director Kenna Harris expressed their enthusiasm for the project. ‘It’s been a hilarious and poignant journey exploring how our favorite team of legacy toys might respond to today’s world of technology,’ they said in a press release. ‘Having the remarkably talented Greta Lee bring Lilypad to life has been incredible.’
This installment follows the previous films released in 1995, 1999, 2010, and 2019. Toy Story 5 aims to capture the hearts of both new audiences and longtime fans.
