Simone Biles Opens Up About Her Cosmetic Surgery Journey
LOS ANGELES, CA — Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, 28, has candidly shared her experience with cosmetic surgery in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE. Biles emphasized the importance of transparency around her choices, citing it as vital for her and her followers.
In light of her recent TikTok post where she hinted at three procedures, Biles explained her motivations. “Social media is not real, so that’s why I try to be as transparent as possible,” she said. “It’s just who I am and I feel like I’ve always tried to be open, honest and relatable.”
Biles mentioned that two of her surgeries would not be noticeable, noting she underwent a lower blepharoplasty to address hereditary eye bags, which she affectionately refers to as the “Biles eye bags.” “Every time I would go to a shoot, they’re like, ‘Oh, can we put some strips on her?’” she recalled, describing the frustration of dealing with the bags despite a good night’s sleep.
In addition to the blepharoplasty, Biles underwent surgery to fix an earlobe that was torn from an earring in her childhood. Although she acknowledged her breast augmentation, she clarified that it wasn’t because she disliked how she looked prior to the procedure. “Okay, obviously you can notice the breasts,” she said with a laugh, adding, “it’s just feeling good about yourself and loving yourself.”
Biles hopes her openness about her choices resonates with her younger followers. “I also think it shows young girls that they have the right to their own choices, whatever they are, and that’s no shame added as well,” she articulated. “With social media, you see everyone and you’re like, ‘Oh my God, how does she look so good?’”
As part of her message, Biles recounted a past experience with Botox that didn’t go as planned. She wishes her followers to understand that they do not need to conform to societal expectations of beauty. “You don’t have to do these things to fall in line to seem whatever. As long as you love yourself, that’s really all that matters,” she concluded.
