SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — Veteran guard Svi Mykhailiuk has quietly been making a significant impact for the Utah Jazz in the early part of the season. Through the team’s first 11 games, Mykhailiuk has averaged 10.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.9 assists while shooting 50% from the field, maintaining a crucial starter role.

Entering the season, expectations for Mykhailiuk were modest. However, he has consistently delivered when given playing time. His contributions have not gone unnoticed, particularly by his teammate Lauri Markkanen, who praised Mykhailiuk after scoring 20 points against the Indiana Pacers.

“[Svi] plays really hard. Tries on defense. He rebounds,” Markkanen said. “Obviously, his ability to shoot the ball is just getting everybody else space as well.”

Although Mykhailiuk may not shine as brightly as some of the Jazz’s younger talents, his role as a floor spacer and his relentless effort make him a valuable asset. He currently boasts a shooting percentage of over 37% from three-point range on a career-high 5.8 attempts per game.

Mykhailiuk has already logged two games with over 20 points this season, including a career-high performance against the Detroit Pistons. His ability to score becomes critical for opposing defenses, as teams cannot afford to overlook him.

<p“They have to respect his shot,” Markkanen added. “There are nights that he shoots really well, and there are nights it’s tougher. But all of his looks are contested. He doesn’t get too many open looks, but just the way he plays unselfish basketball on both ends of the floor, he puts his body on the line on defense. We try to look for him often.”

As the season develops, Mykhailiuk’s role as a reliable two-guard continues to become evident for the Jazz. His steady performance and team-oriented style of play highlight his potential to make a significant impact in the right circumstances.
