Giannis Antetokounmpo Basketball Game

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Milwaukee Bucks All-Star Giannis Antetokounmpo will not play Wednesday night against the Charlotte Hornets due to a knee issue. The Bucks confirmed that Antetokounmpo is dealing with left knee patellar tendinopathy.

This announcement comes just two days after Antetokounmpo scored 30 points in a thrilling comeback victory against the Dallas Mavericks. In that game, he contributed 15 points in the fourth quarter to help Milwaukee win 116-114.

As the NBA’s leading scorer with an average of 33.4 points per game, Antetokounmpo has been a pivotal player for the Bucks. In addition to his scoring prowess, he also averages 11.9 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game.

Milwaukee faces additional challenges, as they will be without Kevin Porter Jr. (recovering from right knee meniscus surgery) and Taurean Prince (herniated disk in neck) during this matchup as well. On the opposing side, Charlotte’s LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller are also sidelined due to injuries.

The Bucks, who have three games in four nights, will play the Hornets again on Friday and then host the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday. With Antetokounmpo resting tonight, the team seems to be prioritizing long-term health while preparing for the more significant matchup on Friday as part of the NBA Cup.

Antetokounmpo, who won the league MVP award in 2019 and 2020, remains a crucial element of Milwaukee’s success in the league. His performance this season has positioned him as a strong contender for the MVP race once again.
