Philadelphia Michelin Star Event 2025

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Philadelphia is set to discover which local restaurants will earn accolades from the Michelin Guide at a ceremony tonight at 7:15 p.m. at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts.

“It’s huge for Philadelphia, a city known for its food culture. We have been anticipating this for a long time, and our moment has arrived,” said Gregg Caren, president and CEO of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau.

This event marks the first time restaurants in Philadelphia and Boston will be included in the MICHELIN Guide’s Northeast Cities edition, joining established gastronomic cities like Chicago, New York City, and Washington, D.C. An Ernst & Young study commissioned by Michelin indicates that 74% of travelers consider Michelin’s presence crucial when choosing a destination.

“It’s enormous for each restaurant being recognized and for the city itself, which is rich in culinary talent,” Caren added. The guide’s rewards are coveted, with distinctions for one star (High Quality – Worth A Stop!), two stars (Excellent Cooking – Worth A Detour!), and three stars (Exceptional Cuisine – Worth A Special Journey!).

Anonymous inspectors have assessed the dining scene in Philadelphia for months, evaluating quality, technique, and consistency. For the city’s restaurants, the stakes are high. Chefs and restaurateurs are anticipating tonight’s ceremony with a mix of excitement and nerves.

At the event, Michelin’s international director, Gwendal Poullennec, will underscore the guide’s impact on the global culinary landscape. “We look at meticulous details to determine which restaurants exemplify the culinary arts,” Poullennec commented earlier this week.

The Michelin Guide’s arrival in Philadelphia is considered a significant milestone, one that could reshape the city’s reputation as a dining destination on the national and international stages. Guests will tune in via the live stream as the event unveils which local eateries will receive prestigious Michelin stars.

As the food community comes together to celebrate this pivotal moment for Philadelphia, the anticipation builds for what could be a transformative night for the city’s restaurant scene.
