Denise Richards Breaks Silence on Divorce and Restraining Order at BravoCon

Las Vegas, NV – Denise Richards spoke publicly about her ongoing divorce from Aaron Phypers during the Bravo2Bravo panel at BravoCon on November 16. This marked her first appearance since a judge granted her a five-year restraining order against her estranged husband.

The 54-year-old actress expressed gratitude for her support system, stating, “I have such a great support system. Thank you so much.” Richards then candidly discussed the challenges of living in the public eye, describing the experience as “very daunting.”

Richards’ restraining order was issued on November 7 after she accused Phypers of physical abuse. The order requires him to stay away from her, cease any harassment, and surrender firearms to the police. A judge described Phypers’ actions as “pretty classic domestic violence” during the ruling.

Richards had initially requested a temporary restraining order in July, shortly after Phypers filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. The divorce filing also included allegations of physical and emotional abuse, leading to her seeking legal protection.

During the panel, Richards reflected on the public nature of her personal struggles, saying, “When you first have to deal with it, it’s very hard… it’s different because on the reality shows, our personal life is out there. On reality, you can’t pretend it’s not happening.”

Phypers, who was arrested for spousal abuse in October, denies the allegations and claims Richards’ accusations are false and intended to damage his reputation. He requested spousal support after their six-year marriage ended, while Richards has asked him to cover her legal costs and participate in a batterer intervention program.

Richards is set to appear in the 15th season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, which premieres on December 4, and hinted at her willingness to return to the franchise full-time. “We’re talking about things,” she said when asked about her future with the show.
