New NYT Strands Puzzle Features Long Spangram and Unique Themes
New York, NY – The New York Times introduced its latest word game, Strands, which has quickly gained popularity since its beta launch. Players can engage with a new puzzle every day, challenged to discover related words from a 6×8 grid.
Strands mirrors the classic word search format but emphasizes thematic connections. Each puzzle contains a clue hinting at a common theme among the words. Successfully uncovering these theme words highlights them in blue, while the special word known as a spangram, which connects opposite sides of the grid, is marked in yellow.
Today’s Strands theme, “Divinely Inspired,” gives players a peek into various religious figures. The complete spangram for the day is ‘RELIGIOUS FIGURES’. However, players might encounter challenging aspects—similar to previous puzzles like Wordle, editor Tracy Bennett plans to introduce curveballs to keep solvers engaged.
While some players faced difficulties, like confusing the words ‘POPE’ and ‘PROPHET,’ many found today’s puzzle easier. A player acknowledged that the extensive spangram dominated the grid but also guided them to solutions quickly.
Strands is accessible on both desktop and mobile platforms and aims to join the ranks of the NYT’s beloved games, like Wordle and Connections, fostering a daily habit among its users.
