Walmart’s Pumpkin Pie Fails to Impress Taste Testers
NEW YORK, NY — Walmart‘s bakery pumpkin pie has come under scrutiny in a recent taste test, with reviewers highlighting its lackluster flavor and poor packaging. Despite being a convenient option for last-minute gatherings, many found the pie disappointing.
The taste test, which involved multiple competitors, aimed to evaluate flavor, texture, and overall value. Unfortunately for Walmart, its 8-inch pumpkin pie, priced around $5, earned negative feedback for its bland taste and sour finish.
Removing the pie from its tin was challenging due to difficult packaging, and testers noted that the crumbly crust lacked the ideal flakiness typically associated with high-quality pumpkin pies. Although the pie touts a combination of spices, reviewers said the flavors were muted, failing to evoke the homemade qualities many expect from this classic dessert.
“Other pies brought the comfort of a grandma’s kitchen, but Walmart’s version didn’t do the classic treat any justice,” said one tester. “It just doesn’t have that smooth, spicy filling that makes pumpkin pie appealing,” they added. While some found it a serviceable snack for casual occasions, it failed to meet expectations for special events such as Thanksgiving.
Interestingly, reviews varied widely. One reviewer noted an overpowering cinnamon taste, contrasting with others who found the spice notes nearly nonexistent. For those who enjoy a sweeter, denser pie without the complexity of traditional flavors, this may still find some fans.
For those who want to enhance their pie experience, adding toppings such as whipped cream or nuts is suggested. However, many agree that shoppers would be better off exploring other options in the bakery aisle before settling on Walmart’s offering.
