Wiley Davi Missing Professor Peaks Island

PORTLAND, Maine — A multi-agency search is underway for Wiley Davi, a 57-year-old Bentley University professor who went missing on Peaks Island. Davi was last seen on Saturday evening, November 15.

Authorities described Davi as 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighing 155 pounds, with gray hair. He is a respected professor of English and media studies at Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts.

On Monday, a university spokesperson released a statement expressing concern for Davi. “Wiley is a longtime and respected professor and a friend to students, faculty, and staff on our campus. Our hearts and minds are with Wiley, their loved ones, and the first responders who are leading the search. We are hoping and praying for Wiley’s safe return,” the statement said.

Search efforts are being led by the Maine Warden Service, with assistance from the Maine Marine Patrol, Portland Police Department, and various volunteer search and rescue teams. The teams are focusing on trails, wooded areas, and waters surrounding Peaks Island.

Sergeant Harry Wiegman from the Warden Service explained the challenging conditions of the terrain and weather, which can complicate search efforts. Authorities have also utilized drones and boats in the search.

The Warden Service is urging people to avoid the walking trails to maintain clear search areas and asking Peaks Island residents to check their properties for clues regarding Davi’s whereabouts. Anyone who may have information is encouraged to contact the Portland Police Department at 207-874-8479.

The search continues as authorities remain determined to locate Davi.
