INGLEWOOD, Calif. — The Los Angeles Rams have extended linebacker Nate Landman with a three-year, $22.5 million contract after his impressive season. Originally signed in March to a one-year deal for the minimum salary of $1.1 million, Landman earned a starting job and proved his worth on the field.

Landman, the only NFL player born in Zimbabwe, joined the Rams after entering the league as an undrafted rookie out of Colorado in 2022. His breakout year this season includes 91 tackles, four passes defended, and four forced fumbles, which leads the NFL. The Rams recognized his contributions to their defense, which has limited opponents to an average of just 17.2 points per game.

“Nate has been more than just a player; he’s been a vital leader for our defense,” said Rams coach Sean McVay. “We didn’t want to take a chance on losing him.”

Before joining the Rams, Landman played for the Atlanta Falcons but was primarily a minimum-salary player there as well. His versatility and performance this season solidified his spot with Los Angeles.

The Rams aimed to build a strong young defense around players like Landman as they continue to develop their team. With this extension, he will remain in Los Angeles for the foreseeable future.
