Lanús Fans Face Long Journey for Sudamericana Final in Paraguay
ASUNCIÓN, Paraguay – Fans of the Argentine soccer club Lanús traveled more than 1,300 kilometers to attend the monumental final of the CONMEBOL Sudamericana against Mineiro on November 22, 2025. Thousands of passionate supporters mobilized to witness the championship match in Asunción, showcasing their deep commitment to the club.
To assist their fans, Lanús organized extensive travel logistics, securing 10,000 tickets to help supporters who might struggle with costs. The club arranged bus options that included popular access and chartered rides, and offered payment plans to ease financial burdens.
The journey, however, was not without challenges. Many fans encountered delays due to severe storms that hit Buenos Aires, causing buses to arrive hours late. Additionally, fans faced searches by customs officials both in Argentina and at the Paraguayan border.
Among those making the trip was Mariela, who carried her daughter Roma, probably the youngest supporter in the group. Mariela shared her family’s history with Lanús, explaining, “My grandfather started taking us when we were very young. Lanús is not just a team; it holds our hearts.”
Mariela’s love for Lanús runs deep, as she even took Roma to her first game when she was just six weeks old. “I was told I was crazy for bringing her, but it was such a beautiful day,” she recalled. “The people know her, and we take care of her together with friends.”
Despite facing nearly 27 hours of travel, Mariela and others maintained a positive spirit, bonding over drinks and songs. “For us, arriving just on time is a good sign,” she added, reflecting on the anticipation of making it to the match.
Eliana, another fan traveling with a group, was excited about the family reunion they experience on this journey. “We didn’t even think twice about buying tickets. It’s our first time here together as a family,” she said emotionally, highlighting the significance of the match.
After battling the tropical heat and the frenzy of fans, Lanús supporters finally crossed into Paraguay, their dedication yielding dividends as they gear up to support their team in this pivotal clash.
With dreams of victory alive, Lanús will fight for the title against Mineiro, marking a historic moment for the club and its dedicated fanbase.
