Smriti Mandhana’s Wedding to Palash Muchhal Postponed Due to Father’s Illness
Sangli, Maharashtra – The wedding of Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal, planned for this Sunday, has been indefinitely postponed due to the health of Mandhana’s father, Shrinivas. The family has requested privacy during this challenging time.
Mandhana’s manager, Tuhin Mishra, confirmed that her father became unwell early on Sunday morning. ‘While having breakfast, Shrinivas started feeling worse,’ Mishra told the PTI news agency. ‘We waited, hoping he would feel better, but his condition deteriorated. We decided to call an ambulance and took him to the hospital, where he is now under observation.’
The couple had intended to hold a private ceremony attended only by family and close friends. The wedding was highly anticipated, especially after Mandhana’s recent success as a World Cup champion, and celebrations had been taking place throughout the week in Sangli.
Mandhana and Muchhal’s relationship dates back to 2019, when they met through mutual friends in Mumbai‘s creative community. They kept their romance largely private until they celebrated their fifth anniversary by publicly confirming their relationship in July 2024.
Muchhal proposed to Mandhana at DY Patil Stadium after India’s World Cup victory, creating a memorable moment that captured the hearts of fans. He blindfolded her and revealed a ring on the historic pitch where she had showcased her skills.
The couple aimed to formalize their union today, a significant date marking a new chapter in their lives. However, with the ceremony now postponed, their focus remains on Shrinivas Mandhana’s recovery. As of now, the family has not provided a timeline for rescheduling the wedding.
