Morgan Geyser Missing After Cutting Off GPS Monitor in Madison
MADISON, Wis. — Authorities are searching for Morgan Geyser, who cut off her GPS monitoring bracelet and left her group home on Saturday night, November 22. Madison police reported that Geyser was last seen at about 8 p.m. near Kroncke Drive with an adult acquaintance.
The Madison Police Department learned of her disappearance on Sunday morning and has since been actively searching for her. Anyone with information regarding Geyser’s whereabouts is urged to call 911.
Geyser, now 23, was one of two girls convicted for the 2014 stabbing of their classmate, an incident tied to the fictional character Slender Man. The attack left the victim with 19 stab wounds, but she survived. Geyser and her accomplice Anissa Weier were just 12 years old at the time.
Following their convictions, both girls were placed in state mental health facilities. Geyser has faced challenges in her release petitions, while Weier was released under GPS monitoring in 2021 to live with her father.
In April, after a conditional release was granted for Geyser, concerns were raised by the victim’s family regarding her placement due to proximity. Geyser’s defense attorney, Anthony Cotton, expressed optimism about her future, stating, “Morgan is very excited about being in a place where she would be able to grow as an individual, more than the other facility, which was really very dystopian.” However, plans for her transfer to a group home in Sun Prairie fell through due to opposition and publicity surrounding her case.
As the search continues, authorities emphasize the importance of public assistance in locating Geyser.
