Marshawn Kneeland Police Chase

FRISCO, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety has released new videos detailing the tragic police pursuit of Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland, who was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after a high-speed chase on November 5.

The footage shows law enforcement pursuing Kneeland’s Dodge Charger for speeding shortly after 10:30 p.m. The pursuit escalated as Kneeland reportedly reached speeds exceeding 145 mph, making dangerous lane changes before crashing into another vehicle near Dallas Parkway.

At 10:40 p.m., after the crash, officers responded and began searching for Kneeland, who fled the scene on foot. Some officers were eventually alerted that they were searching for a Cowboys player. Hours went by without locating him, leading to heightened concern from law enforcement as Kneeland had sent his girlfriend, Catalina Mancera, a message saying goodbye.

Mancera had expressed her worry to police that he was armed and might harm himself. A search ensued with K-9 units and drones scanning the area for heat signatures. Authorities found Kneeland’s body at around 1:30 a.m. on November 6 in a portable restroom.

Earlier in the evening, witnesses described the chaotic moments after the crash, with one individual recounting that Kneeland had been traveling at high speeds and struck her vehicle. Officers on the scene noted that Kneeland’s car had an empty holster but no weapon was found.

As the police search progressed, they discovered that Kneeland had played in a game just days before, scoring his first professional touchdown. The police footage highlights the urgency of the search, capturing the moment when officers learned about Kneeland’s identity as concern grew over his well-being.

Following his death, the Cowboys organization expressed their condolences and reiterated their support for Mancera, who is expecting a child with Kneeland. The team has established a fund to assist her during this difficult time.

Kneeland, 24, was drafted by the Cowboys in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft. His sudden passing has left the Cowboys community in mourning.
