Buccaneers Face Illness During Wednesday Practice
Tampa Bay, FL – The Tampa Bay Buccaneers conducted a walk-through on Wednesday as several players were unwell. Coach Todd Bowles reported that more than 20 members of the team were affected by an illness sweeping through the facility.
“Unfortunately, this Wednesday, a lot of people have taken ill,” Bowles said. “There is a bug going around the building. We had about five coaches and about 15 players down, so that helped aid in this walk-through. There’s nothing we can really do about that today.”
Among those impacted, quarterback Baker Mayfield was among six players who had limited participation due to the sickness. Other players affected include center Graham Barton, wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, offensive guard Dan Feeney, offensive tackle Luke Goedeke, and defensive end Logan Hall.
In addition to the sick players, several others did not practice for various reasons. Outside linebacker Chris Braswell (foot), offensive guard Ben Bredeson (hamstring), cornerback Jamel Dean (hip), kicker Chase McLaughlin (personal), and outside linebacker Haason Reddick (ankle/knee) were all sidelined.
Wide receiver Chris Godwin Jr. (fibula), running back Bucky Irving (shoulder/foot), wide receiver Sterling Shepard (shoulder), and offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs (shoulder) were also limited in their practice rep.
The Buccaneers are hoping for a quick recovery for their players as they prepare for their upcoming game.
