Cobie Durant Fined for Unnecessary Roughness in Rams Victory
LOS ANGELES, California — Cobie Durant, a cornerback for the Los Angeles Rams, received a fine of $17,389 for unnecessary roughness due to an illegal hip-drop tackle during the Rams’ 21-19 victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 11.
The incident, which occurred in the third quarter, involved Durant tackling Seahawks tight end AJ Barner after a 5-yard reception while the Rams were leading 14-12. Despite the tackle being flagged, Durant was not penalized during the game, which could have resulted in a pivotal 4-point swing.
This fine marks the first of Durant’s career and is one of nine fines issued to Rams players this season. The fourth-year defensive back, who has been performing well this season, allowed only 52% completions on 50 targets, ranking fifth among defenders facing similar attempts.
The Rams are heading into Week 12 with an 8-2 record and are set to face the Buccaneers on Sunday night. Durant, a former South Carolina State standout, has started in eight of the Rams’ ten games.
In addition to Durant, two Seahawks players also faced fines for infractions during the game. Second-year linebacker Jordan Brooks was fined $6,406 for an illegal helmet hit, while veteran defensive tackle Jarran Reed received a $14,491 fine for unsportsmanlike conduct.
As the Rams look forward to their next match, Durant will aim to focus on his gameplay as he approaches free agency next offseason.
