Olivia Yacé Miss Universe Resignation

Bangkok, Thailand — Olivia Yacé, who represented Côte d'Ivoire, has announced her resignation as Miss Universe Africa and Oceania just days after placing fourth runner-up in the Miss Universe 2025 pageant on Nov. 21.

In a heartfelt statement shared on social media, Yacé expressed her desire to stay true to her core values of respect, dignity, and excellence. “I witnessed firsthand that I was capable of accomplishing great things despite adversity,” she said.

Yacé, 27, acknowledged how her journey in the competition helped her grow but emphasized that to fully reach her potential, she needed to step back from her title. “Stepping away from this diminished role will allow me to dedicate myself fully to defending the values I hold dear,” she added.

She called on young girls from diverse backgrounds to push their limits and embrace their identities: “Continue entering spaces where you are not expected. Let us open the way for the brothers and sisters who will follow us,” Yacé urged.

The Miss Côte d’Ivoire Committee (COMICI) confirmed Yacé’s resignation on Facebook, stating it was for personal convenience and reiterated that she will return her sash to the organization.

Yacé’s decision comes amid broader controversies surrounding the Miss Universe competition, including allegations of vote manipulation and high-profile resignations. Separate from Yacé, Brigitta Schaback, Miss Universe Estonia, also stepped down following the event, citing a misalignment with her national director’s values.

Each contestant’s resignation adds to the ongoing scrutiny of the pageant organization, marking a challenging year for Miss Universe.
